Job Type Management

The first stage in Application Integrator development process is to create or import a job type.

The Application Integrator enables you to create a job type in one of the following methods:

  • Create a job type: Enables you to define a new job type, as described in Creating a Job Type.

  • Import job type from file: Enables you to import a job type that is saved in .ctmai file format on your local disk or network drive. If you have defined a job type in a different environment, you can export the job type file from that environment and import it into another Control-M environment. For example, you may want to move your job type from a Test environment to a Production environment. For more information, see Importing Job from File.

  • Import job from Application Hub: Enables you to import a job type from the Control-M Application Hub, as described in Importing a Job Type from the Control-M Application Hub. Control-M users can share job types they create with other Control-M users through the Application Hub. You can use them as a starting point for creating your job type. You can also contribute to the Control-M Application Hub community by sharing your job types.

Application Integrator consists of a web designer and an application plug-in, part of which resides in Agent and the other part in Control-M. The job types that you create or download from the Control-M Application Hub are deployed through the application plug-in, which executes the commands or web service operations. BMC recommends you carefully examine which commands and operations are used in job types that you create or download from the Control-M Application Hub to ensure proper execution of the jobs. While BMC provides support for the web designer and the application plug-in of Application Integrator, BMC does not support the job types that you create or download from the Control-M Application Hub. You are solely responsible for all of the job types that you create or download from the Control-M Application Hub and their functionality.

To prevent any unwanted results caused by the imported job type, you should carefully review the job types that you import and make necessary changes, before you deploy them into your environment.

When Logging in to Application Integrator, it automatically connects to the default Control-M/EM GUI Server. If you want to change the GUI Server you need to create a cfg file, as described in Creating a Communication Configuration File.

The following procedures describe how to duplicate and delete a job type and to edit job type details.

You can also un-deploy a job type. For more information, see Job Type Deployment.

After you have created a job type, you can start defining it, as described in Job Type Definition.
